Founded in 2013, the Barbecue Mafia are four lads from Brisbane crazy about American style low 'n' slow barbecue. Originally a competition team competing all over Australia, the lads decided to take their passion to the next level and it’s been a crazy ride so far. If you haven’t tasted the Mafia-fare, you’re not living!
The Mafia smoke on their two custom built RADAR HILL SMOKERS ‘The Don’ a 24 inch reverse offset stick burner and their new addition ‘The Bone Collector’ a 30 inch double door reverse offset stick burner.’ 100% fueled by Iron-bark, Oak and cherry wood, the team are wowing Brisbane with their Authentic Pit Smoked barbecue. The 12 hour smoking process blows people away!!
Also known around town as his foodie alter ego Drewsbrekkyblog. Drew has developed a passion of "low n slow" barbecue second to none. He spends a lot of his time promoting the scene in Brisbane and is all about supporting local paddock to plate producers. Less than 3 years ago he was smoking on a weber kettle and these days drags a huge Radar Hill offset smoker around Brisbane.
Also known around town as "Balls BBQ", Chris is the resident Heston of the Mafia crew. Chris has a passion for all food and cooking but after a holiday through the southern states of the U.S feasting on the best BBQ in the world, he returned to boiled and over sauced ribs being sold locally. This prompted him to build his own smoker and begin his journey to where he is today. He spends all of his down time experimenting with flavours, ingredients and different methods of cooking food.
Also known around town as "GDoss19", Gareth is an accomplished Aussie rules footballer and was looking for a new venture in the food industry. Within months of using an offset smoker for the first time, he was controlling the fire like a boss. He is our resident sandwich artist and makes a Cuban sandwich that brings tears to people’s eyes. Gaz and Drew bought ‘The Don’ as a way to dip their toe into the food scene and haven’t looked back. In charge of the future Mafia clothing line.
Also known around town as "Ryanslowandslow", Ryan is the newest member of the Barbecue Mafia team. The king of the Weber kettle, Ryan is breaking the interwebs with his amazing beef rib and beef cheek recipes and videos.A keen student of all things low n slow, Ryan dragged his wife across the US on their honeymoon and returned a convert to the fire.Affectionately referred to as 'the swine whisperer' he is in charge of the pork category in the Mafia Competition BBQ team.Token tattooed team member.
